Austin Parks Foundation (APF) is dedicated to partnering with our community to enhance people’s lives by making our public parks, trails and green spaces better through volunteerism, innovative programming, advocacy and financial support. A non-profit established in 1992, APF fills the city’s funding and resource gap needed to develop, maintain and enhance the area’s 300+ parks, trails and green spaces.
Job Summary
Austin Parks Foundation seeks a versatile, organized, detail-oriented and technologically proficient Intern to help manage APF’s daily fundraising operations. This role facilitates the efficient use of systems and data to identify, solicit, steward and thank donors. Responsibilities include gift processing, gift acknowledgement, database management, reporting, data manipulation, fundraising, process improvement, and administrative tasks such as mailings and communications.
Interns will gain hands-on experience in non-profit fundraising operations, data management, and event planning, while working with a collaborative and mission-driven team.
Required Skills/Competencies
A key support role, the Development Intern supports the development team, provides excellent service to constituents, and collaborates with accounting and marketing teams, as well as partner organizations. Organization, willingness to learn technical systems, and solid (internal and external) customer service skills are required. Professionalism is essential across all communication.
Essential Functions
- Update donor records using Little Green Light, APF’s donor database/CRM
- Maintain and monitor development inbox, with Development Team support
- Fulfill weekly and seasonal stewardship initiatives, including but not limited to Groundbreakers welcome packages, monthly Perennial Partners packages, holiday cards, and donor thank you notes and phone calls
- Prepare prompt, personal acknowledgement letters and donor correspondence
- Track expired credit card payments in the database, and follow up with donors to update their card numbers
- Provide excellent customer service to donors, providing tax receipts and giving histories as requested
- Support the Development team in planning and execution of APF's annual fundraiser, Party for the Parks; assist in managing registration, sponsor ticketing, and making in-kind donation asks
- Support the Development team in identifying and researching individual and corporate donor prospects
- Provide support for Corporate Volunteering projects as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college/university and pursuing an associate degree or higher
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Solid verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Trustworthy and dependable
- Self-motivated and an internal drive to produce high-quality work
- Ability to effectively managing multiple priorities while thriving in a fast-paced environment
- Strong decision-making and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of work experience in a professional, volunteer, or customer service setting
- CRM or relational database experience
Physical Demand and Work Environment
- Physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations - may be required to move materials weighing up to 30 pounds
- Hybrid remote and In-office work
- Required to work some evenings and weekends

Compensation Transparency
This internship is compensated at $17.00/hour (paid semi-monthly) for a total of 15-20 hours per week.
Duration: July 2025 - December 2025.
