[PAID] Worship Internship - Summer 2025
POSITION: Worship Internship (Summer 2025)
DESCRIPTION: A 17-week stipended internship at Stonebrooke Church, a contemporary, evangelical church in Northern San Diego offering hands-on experience in worship leading, production, administration, songwriting, and special events.
For our Summer 2025 internship, we are specifically looking for interns with an interest in on-stage worship leading, and/or songwriting & production. However, we're open to new and fresh ideas! If you have something you're looking to get developed in that's not encompassed by those three things, let's have a conversation about it, we'd love to see if it's something that's feasible for us as a church.
WHAT SETS US APART:
- PAY! - We value the time and effort you’re investing in our church while we invest in you, and to make it easier for you to participate, we give you a stipend! No other churches in San Diego (that we were able to find!) offered a compensated short-term worship internship, so we think this is a great perk!
- Professional Development - Our Worship & Community Experience Director, Kenny Cook, works professionally around Southern California as a project manager and songwriter for churches and Christian artists. As an intern here at Stonebrooke, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in some of these outside projects (should you be interested!) for additional compensation.
- Major Project Involvement - We are always up to something new and fun here at Stonebrooke, and we love for our interns to be a part of the activities, not just busy bees supporting our staff as they get to have all the fun. For our Spring 2025 internship season- we partnered with an artist collective here in Southern California to produce a major show where Stonebrooke Worship opened for the band Living Again, with the band and vocal team consisting of our interns. We also partnered with the world renowned gospel singer Alva Copeland and Black Campus Ministries to put together GOSPEL EXPLOSION, a gospel worship music centric event taking over our Sunday service and serving the local community, headed up by one of our interns. We also are in the midst of producing our first original song under the Stonebrooke Worship banner, Sweetest Love, currently sloted for a national release in May, with all our interns playing a role in its recording, production, and release. We have several large projects planned for this summer, and as an intern, you have the opportunity to be a part of them!
- Work From Home & Flexible Scheduling - This internship includes a great amount of work-from-home flexibility. In addition, we understand that some candidates might solely be in-state for the summer and live elsewhere, so should you not be able to participate in all 17 weeks, or need additional Sundays off, we are happy to work with you to make it work.
- Portfolio - Our hope is that you would walk away with a portfolio of not just the standard things that you’d want as a worship leader, but all of the tools you’ll need for your future job on day one – A well developed personal worship liturgy, project proposals, song resource pack samples, and more. We work with you throughout your time here to make that happen!
- Unique & Flexible Church Structure - Under the new structure of Stonebrooke Church, we essentially operate under two large umbrellas: Spiritual Formation and Experience. Spiritual Formation, under the leadership of Pastor Hatch, operates all of our spiritual development opportunities from small groups, to Bible studies, to weekend teaching, etc. A vast majority of the other things in the church, with the exception of Children’s Ministry, falls under the Experience umbrella. This means that you’ll have the opportunity not just to lead on the stage, but also be involved with things like worship operations and administration, hosting weekend services, executing worship-related special events, helping with worship related marketing and production, etc. While all departments ultimately fall under the responsibility of our senior pastor and deacon board, this model allows for a far greater level of flexibility in what you get to do during your time here. Want to really develop your prompting skills on stage and your tech skills? No problem! Want to grow in your abilities of leading vocally from an instrument and learn how to build out a PCO plan like a pro? Great! We want you to not just contribute, but to round out your skill set, and this structure is a great way to do that!
IMMEDIATE REPORT: Kenny Cook, Worship and Community Experience Director
OVERALL REPORT: Robert Hatch, Senior Pastor
WHO CAN APPLY: We happily will accept applications from Christian students of all educational backgrounds and life stages, however, this internship is designed for college students pursuing something related to music, worship arts, theology, ministry, or related areas. If you are in need of college credit for this internship, let us know, we’d love to work with you and your school to make it happen.
