Position Title:  Program Director

Catholic Youth Camp Mission and Values
Father Jack Sweeney pioneered Catholic Youth Camp in 1947 with a heart to build into children a healthy love and respect for Catholic values, the great outdoors and the virtues of Courage, Community, Charity, Cooperation and Christ.  CYC exists today as a quality Catholic camp experience so kids can unplug, connect with God, and make friends in an inclusive atmosphere of friendship, community and prayer. 

Program Director General Overview

The Program Director shall be the primary role model in the life of each child and staff at camp.  They are responsible for the supervision of programming, staff and campers. They will report to the Executive Director and assist where necessary in daily operations, parent communication, and administration.  The Program Director should be in full agreement with the mission and values of Catholic Youth Camp and be dedicated to excellence in the workplace for the sake of the ministry, campers, families and other patrons of the ministry.  This seasonal position commences March 31, 2025 and ends September 5, 2025, with potential to shift into a year round, full time position.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Implementation and oversight of day and evening programming
• Supervise and support counselors with programming, camper issues, scheduling, etc…
• Lead and/or assist with activities when necessary
• Model and emphasize safety and stewardship at all times
• Provide positive guidance through appropriate behavior management
• Communicate with parents before camp begins when necessary
• Greet parents on Sunday during registration and Friday during and after closing chapel
• Ensure that all expected campers have arrived and gone through check in process
• Complete daily camper cabin inspection
• Perform regular counselor check ins and lead counselor meetings
• Assist with cleaning camp facility after Friday check out
• Understand and uphold camp safety policies (eg. Lifeguarding)
• Work closely with Executive Director to place campers into cabins, run camp store, ensure supplies are stocked
• Ensure all counselor staff have a way of attending Mass on Sundays
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 2-3 years Camp Program Director experience preferred
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and relationship building abilities
• Independent, self-starter, self-motivated
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Patience in working with parents and children
• People management skills stemming from the posture of servant leadership
• Mental health awareness in young adults and children
• Strong work/life balance in a job that demands flexibility and the ability to at times work long hours

Salary Range

• $20,000 - $26,000 before taxes and withholding
