Northampton County Youth and Young Adult Pastor
DISCIPLESHIP & MINISTRY LEADERSHIP
- Develop, plan, and execute weekly youth and young adult programming appropriate to age groups (high school seniors and older teenagers; college-aged and young adults)
- Lead discipleship groups, Bible studies, and small group experiences designed to deepen faith and build community
- Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to participants, including crisis support and mentoring relationships
- Work with local churches and ministries (FCA, Young Life) to build relationships with unchurched youth in schools and community gathering spaces
PREACHING & TEACHING
- Preach regularly in rotation across both churches
- Serve as backup preacher when assigned pastors are on sabbatical, vacation, or unavailable
- Lead teaching sessions at church events, retreats, and special programs
PARTNERSHIP & OUTREACH
- Build partnerships with school administration to support FCA campus ministry initiatives
- Coordinate with Young Life leadership to complement youth outreach efforts
- Build visibility and relationships in community gathering spaces frequented by youth (beaches, parks, restaurants, etc.)
- Make regular announcements and ministry updates at Sunday services and church events to promote participation
ADMINISTRATION & COLLABORATION
- Attend monthly Oversight Committee meetings and provide regular ministry updates with pastoral leadership
- Manage ministry budget, submit expense reports, and track program outcomes
- Coordinate facility scheduling with both churches to ensure program spaces are available
- Maintain communication with both senior pastors regarding program developments and pastoral concerns
Required Qualifications
- Born-again Christian with a genuine love for Jesus Christ and demonstrated commitment to biblical Christianity
- Baptist in faith and practice
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree; Master's degree in theology, biblical studies, counseling, or related field preferred
- Ordained or ready for ordination within the first year of service
- Demonstrated expository preaching ability and comfort with teaching Scripture
- Proven experience in youth or young adult ministry
- Preferred that the candidate be married
- Must possess a driver's license, valid vehicle, and willingness to travel within Northampton County
Character Requirements
- Pastoral candidate must meet the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 for pastoral office
- Demonstrated integrity, reliability, and pastoral judgment
- Ability to relate authentically to teenagers and young adults while maintaining appropriate pastoral boundaries
- Commitment to personal spiritual growth, theological development, and continuing education
- Clear background check and references, with no history of abuse, financial impropriety, or moral failure
Supervision & Evaluation
- Quarterly meetings with Oversight Committee to review progress, address challenges, and provide support
- Annual formal evaluation conducted by Oversight Committee using mutually agreed-upon criteria
- Opportunity for professional development, mentoring, and theological growth through conferences or training
