Ridge Baptist Church Administrative Assistant Part-Time  

Employment Information

Schedule: Part-Time, 16 hours per week, with regular on-site office hours and occasional flexibility for special services, ministry events, holidays, and seasonal activities.

Compensation: $17.50–$20.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Work Environment: This position is primarily office-based and involves frequent interaction with members, visitors, volunteers, staff, ministry leaders, vendors, and community guests. Regular use of computers, telephones, printers, and other office equipment is required. Occasional lifting of office supplies and printed materials may be necessary.

Position Summary

The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and communication support for the ministry and daily operations of Ridge Baptist Church. Serving as the primary point of contact for members, visitors, volunteers, and the community, this position supports the Lead Pastor, staff, ministry leaders, and committees through office administration, communications, worship support, scheduling, and records management. This position has no financial, bookkeeping, or payroll responsibilities.

Reports To: Lead Pastor, in cooperation with the Personnel Support Team

Works Closely With: Lead Pastor, church staff, ministry leaders, committees, volunteers, the Financial Secretary, vendors, and community partners.

Essential Responsibilities

Front Office & Office Administration

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for members, visitors, volunteers, and community guests by providing welcoming, professional assistance in person, by phone, and by email.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, forms, and other church documents.
  • Maintain filing systems, administrative reference materials, and church records.
  • Maintain inventory of office and ministry supplies and coordinate ordering.

Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative support for the Lead Pastor, staff, ministry leaders, committees.
  • Prepare and distribute materials for worship services, Bible studies, classes, ministry events, volunteer activities, and other church functions.
  • Coordinate the church master calendar, facility scheduling, room reservations, and online event registration.
  • Provide administrative support for the Douglas S. Freeman High School parking permit program, including participant communication, registration, record keeping, and follow-up.

Church Communications

  • Prepare, edit, print, and distribute the weekly bulletin, prayer concerns, and church-wide email communications, allowing time for updates and late additions.
  • Maintain the computerized prayer request system and prepare weekly prayer concerns in consultation with the Lead Pastor.
  • Maintain and update the church's communication platforms, including the website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, church phone app, marquee sign, and other communication tools used by the church; prepare and distribute additional church communications as needed.

Worship & Ministry Support

  • Prepare weekly worship presentations using MediaShout and PowerPoint in coordination with the Lead Pastor and worship leadership.
  • Provide administrative support for special worship services, seasonal events, and ministry activities.

Records Management

  • Maintain accurate church membership, directory, attendance, and congregational records, including baptisms, births, marriages, membership changes, and contact information.
  • Maintain volunteer records, track required background checks, administrative reference files, and current contact lists for denominational, ministry, and community partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Administrative or office experience.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality while exercising sound judgment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a dependable, professional, collaborative, and service-oriented approach to work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Administrative experience in a church or nonprofit setting.
  • Experience with church management software.
  • Familiarity with website updates and social media management.
  • Experience using MediaShout, PowerPoint, or similar presentation software.
