Mentor Development Leader (Part-Time)

Help Develop the Mentors Who Develop Our Youth

Through Christ and Community, 10:12 Sports uses athletics as a platform for discipleship, leadership development, mentoring, and workforce development. We equip coaches, mentors, churches, and community leaders to help young people grow into servant leaders who pursue healthy lifestyles, strong character, and a relationship with Christ.

At 10:12 Sports, we believe that healthy mentors create healthy mentoring relationships. Because of this, we are committed not only to mentoring youth, but also to developing, supporting, and discipling the adults who invest in them.

 

 

Position Summary

The Mentor Development Leader serves as the primary champion of mentor discipleship, development, and engagement within 10:12 Sports.

This individual is responsible for recruiting, equipping, supporting, discipling, and coordinating mentors across the organization's mentoring initiatives. The Mentor Development Leader helps create an environment where mentors are spiritually encouraged, personally developed, connected to community, and equipped to effectively mentor and disciple youth.

The ideal candidate is passionate about discipleship, enjoys developing leaders, values authentic relationships, and possesses the ability to organize opportunities that help mentoring relationships thrive.

Position Type: Part-Time (12–15 hours per week)

Reports To: Executive Director

 

 


 

Duties & Responsibilities

Mentor Discipleship & Spiritual Formation (40%)

Spiritual Development

  • Invest in the spiritual growth and discipleship of mentors
  • Conduct regular check-ins with mentors regarding their spiritual well-being and personal growth
  • Pray with and for mentors regularly
  • Encourage mentors in developing spiritual disciplines and healthy habits
  • Connect mentors with resources that support their relationship with Christ
  • Support mentors through personal challenges and seasons of difficulty

Spiritual Leadership

  • Facilitate spiritual growth discussions during mentor gatherings and trainings
  • Help shape and strengthen the discipleship culture of 10:12 Sports
  • Equip mentors to become effective disciple makers in the lives of youth
  • Encourage mentors to model Christ-centered leadership, service, and integrity

Shepherding & Care

  • Build meaningful relationships with mentors
  • Ensure mentors feel known, valued, supported, and challenged
  • Foster a culture of encouragement, accountability, and growth among mentors

 

 

Mentor Development & Training (25%)

Mentor Development

  • Coordinate and facilitate mentor development opportunities throughout the year
  • Lead or coordinate Coach U and other mentor training experiences
  • Provide resources, tools, and best practices to strengthen mentor effectiveness
  • Support the development of mentoring skills, leadership skills, and relational skills

Leadership Development

  • Identify emerging mentor leaders
  • Help create pathways for increased leadership opportunities among mentors
  • Support the development of Mentor Coaches and Mentors-in-Training

 

 


 

Mentor Coordination & Program Support (25%)

Mentor Engagement

  • Coordinate mentoring opportunities and mentor involvement within organizational programs
  • Support mentor participation in League Night, Football Mentoring, and other mentoring initiatives
  • Assist with mentor/mentee matching and relationship support
  • Track mentor engagement, participation, and retention

Mentor Onboarding

  • Assist with mentor recruitment and onboarding processes
  • Coordinate mentor orientation and preparation activities
  • Support background check and screening processes
  • Ensure new mentors are equipped to begin serving successfully

Mentor Experiences

  • Coordinate gatherings, outings, and events that strengthen mentor relationships and mentoring opportunities
  • Help create spaces where mentors and mentees can build meaningful connections

 

 

Mentor Recruitment & Pipeline Development (10%)

Mentor Recruitment

  • Support the development and implementation of mentor recruitment strategies
  • Conduct informational conversations with prospective mentors
  • Work alongside churches and community partners to identify potential mentors
  • Help maintain a healthy pipeline of future mentors

 

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong personal Christian faith and commitment to discipleship
  • Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of 10:12 Sports
  • Passion for mentoring, leadership development, and youth development
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and follow through on responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred

  • Experience mentoring youth or adults
  • Experience in ministry, coaching, leadership development, or volunteer management
  • Experience facilitating trainings, Bible studies, or group discussions
  • Experience recruiting and supporting volunteers

  • Maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective mentors
  • Create a culture where mentors are growing spiritually while helping youth grow spiritually
  • Help ensure mentoring relationships are active, meaningful, and impactful
