Student Ministry Associate
Full-Time | Reports to the Student Minister
Position Summary
The Student Ministry Coordinator supports the mission of First Students by helping lead weekly ministry environments, coordinate ministry events, and provide administrative and organizational support for the Student Ministry. This role combines relational ministry with strong communication, event planning, and operational leadership in order to help students, parents, volunteer leaders, and weekly ministry programming flourish.
This is a ministry role focused on supporting the discipleship and day-to-day operations of the Student Ministry rather than serving in a pastoral office. The Student Ministry Associate works closely with the Student Pastor, church staff, volunteer leaders, students, and families to help the ministry run with excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support weekly student ministry programming on Sundays and Wednesdays through preparation, organization, setup, and follow-through
- Build relationships with students and families and assist in the discipleship ministry of First Students
- Lead or support a Sunday morning small group and help cover volunteer leader needs as needed
- Assist in creating curriculum, teaching resources, and program materials for student ministry environments
- Help plan and execute camps, retreats, and student ministry events, including communication, registration, transportation, and supply coordination
- Manage ministry communication with parents, students, and leaders through email, registration systems, and digital platforms
- Maintain ministry calendars, attendance systems, forms, and other organizational tools
- Prepare slides, curriculum materials, food, supplies, and room setup for weekly programming and special events
- Support volunteer leaders through communication, resourcing, coordination, and follow-up
- Collaborate with church staff and assist with other ministry needs as assigned
Qualifications
- A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to the mission and doctrinal commitments of First Baptist Church
- A love for students, families, and the local church
- Strong organizational, communication, self-starting, and administrative skills
- Ability to work well with staff, volunteers, students, and parents
- A willingness to work Sundays, Wednesday evenings, and occasional weekends or overnight ministry events
- Experience in student ministry, church ministry, administration, or event coordination preferred
Schedule Expectations
This is a full-time role that includes regular weekday office hours, Sunday morning programming, Wednesday evening student ministry, and occasional retreats, camps, and special events throughout the year. A typical work week is Sunday – Thursday.
Role Snapshot
This role includes both direct student ministry and significant ministry operations responsibility and is generally best understood as approximately 60% administration/event coordination and 40% relational ministry and leader support.
