Gather Tacoma Children's Ministry Leader

Part-Time Position (Sundays 12:00-1:30 PM)

Position Summary

Gather Tacoma is seeking a warm, creative, and dependable Children's Ministry Leader to nurture and guide children during our Sunday gatherings. This person will create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can build relationships, explore faith, wonder about God, and experience belonging within the Gather community.

The Children's Ministry Leader will oversee programming for elementary-aged children during Gather's Sunday gatherings from 12:00-1:30 PM and work collaboratively with Gather leadership to support the spiritual formation of children and families.

Responsibilities

Sunday Leadership

• Welcome children and help them transition into the children's gathering. 
• Ensure a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all children. 
• Supervise children throughout the gathering and follow all safety procedures. 
• Assist with parent communication during pickup and dismissal. 
• Teach a short Bible story/lesson, play a game or take them for a walk through the neighboring woods or garden, and/or do a craft. 

Planning and Preparation

• Prepare weekly activities and supplies. 
• Adapt curriculum and activities to meet the needs and interests of participating children. 
• Maintain organization of children's materials and supplies. 

Community Building

• Build positive relationships with children and families. 
• Support Gather Tacoma's commitment to belonging, authenticity, dignity, creativity, spirituality, and love. 
• Help children participate as valued members of the larger Gather community. 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

• Enjoy working with children. 
• Demonstrate warmth, patience, and strong relational skills. 
• Be dependable and organized. 
• Be comfortable facilitating discussions and activities with groups of children. 
• Be supportive of Gather Tacoma's mission and values. 
• Successfully complete required background checks and child safety training. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with kids. Everything else can be taught.

Schedule

• Sundays, 12:00 PM-1:30 PM. 
• Additional preparation time as agreed upon. 
• Occasional participation in special Gather events. 

Compensation

• $20/hr
