Position Summary

The Student Ministry Director provides leadership, vision, and oversight for all middle and high school ministries at BRC. This role is responsible for creating engaging environments where students can build relationships, grow in their faith, and develop into fully devoted followers of Jesus.

 

This leader will oversee weekly programming, discipleship efforts, volunteer teams, and events, while cultivating strong partnerships with parents, schools, and the broader community.

 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Vision

Provide leadership and direction for middle and high school ministries

Develop and execute a ministry strategy aligned with BRC’s mission and vision

Shape a relational, welcoming, and spiritually engaging ministry culture

 

Teaching & Curriculum

Develop and communicate teaching content for weekly gatherings

Evaluate and adapt curriculum to best fit student needs

Create resources and discussion guides to help students engage Scripture

 

Weekly Programming

Plan and lead Wednesday midweek and Sunday student environments

Oversee Friday morning Bible studies

Ensure all gatherings are organized, engaging, and aligned with BRC’s culture

 

Student Discipleship

Foster environments that support spiritual growth and authentic community

Provide relational mentorship and spiritual guidance for students

Identify, develop, and empower student leaders

 

Communication & Family Partnership

Communicate regularly with parents regarding ministry updates and events

Partner with families to support students’ spiritual growth

Provide pastoral care and support for students and families

Oversee student ministry communication channels, including social media

 

Volunteer Leadership

Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders

Maintain consistent communication and relational investment with leaders

Equip volunteers to effectively disciple and lead students

 

Operations & Administration

Manage ministry systems (e.g., Planning Center, ProPresenter) and schedules

Oversee budgeting and financial stewardship

Ensure excellence in execution across all environments

 

Community Engagement

Engage with schools, events, and activities as availability allows

Look for strategic opportunities to support and connect with students outside of church environments

 

Worship Oversight

Oversee student-led worship environments

Develop and support student musicians and vocalists

 

Events & Trips

Plan and oversee major events and trips (e.g., camps, retreats)

Manage logistics, registration, and communication

 

Qualifications & Experience

A growing, personal relationship with Jesus and alignment with BRC’s mission and values

Experience leading in student ministry or a similar environment

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Alignment with BRC’s Mission, Vision, Beliefs and values.

Ability to connect relationally with students, parents, and volunteers

Experience developing and leading teams

Ability to teach and communicate biblical truth in a clear, engaging, and practical way

 

Personal Characteristics

Passionate about reaching students who are far from God

Relational, approachable, and authentic

Self-starter who takes initiative and ownership

Emotionally mature and able to handle sensitive situations with wisdom and discretion

Team-oriented and aligned with the vision and culture of BRC

 

Work Environment & Expectations

Full-time position that includes some evenings and weekends

Active participation in the life of BRC, including Sunday services and staff rhythms

Reports to Executive & Groups Pastor

Works closely with staff and volunteer teams across ministries
