Director Of Youth And Adult Discipleship

Director of Youth and Adult Discipleship(6th grade- adults)

(Full-Time)

Mission Statement

To empower youth, young adults, and adults to grow and deepen their walk in Christian discipleship, and to lead efforts to offer Christ to the community beyond current church attenders.

Basic Requirements and Expectations

  • Be a committed Christ-follower engaged in the process of Christian discipleship
  • Have a faith grounded in God’s grace and love, and seek to grow with others in the
  • community
  • Pass a background check administered through the church office
  • Be a team player that works well with other staff
  • Be on time and prepared for lessons and activities
  • Connect to the congregation
  • Teachable and open to constructive criticism
  • Maintain professional conduct as well as appropriate personal practices and boundaries
  • as found in the employee handbook
  • Participate in regular performance reviews, including following a 90-day probationary period

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Must have the ability to be mobile and active with youth

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate ownership over age-level ministries for small groups and discipleship(Grades 6-12th, College, Young Adult, and Adult)
  • Oversee weekly youth gatherings in addition to Sunday worship - focusing on
  • discipleship, Bible Study, fellowship, service, and spiritual formation
  • Encourage youth attendance and participation in Mayfield UMC
  • Recruit and train volunteers for youth ministry
  • Assist in planning and implementation of Camp Aldersgate week (Full week in June)
  • Understand the role of small groups in a vital congregation, and recruit and develop an impactful team to grow discipleship throughout the congregation
  • Communicate clearly with other staff, discipleship team, congregation, and community
  • Actively participate in weekly worship- engaging with students and the congregation
  • Support MUMC’s leadership decisions, and set an example of a faithful disciple for others

Work Schedule

  • Sunday is an expected work day with worship, youth, and other activities
  • Office hours are expected at least 4 days during the week, in addition to Sunday
  • Camp Aldersgate in June (6-day, 5-night overnight camp)
  • Organizing at least quarterly events for college-aged students
  • Regular attendance and leadership at staff meetings, team meetings, and small groups is expected
  • Weekly check-in with Associate Pastor

Time Commitment : Full Time position
