Discipleship and Music Pastor
The Opportunity
First Baptist Church (FBC) in Paris is a historic congregation in the heart of downtown Paris. We are a multi-generational community of people following Jesus. We exist to help make and mature disciples by guiding people through our discipleship process of connecting with God in worship, growing through a small group Bible study, serving in the church and in the community, and going to our neighbors and the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We are convictional in our cooperation. We believe that the best way to reach the nations with the gospel is to cooperate with other like-minded churches. For this reason, we are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. Our statement of faith is the 2000 version of The Baptist Faith & Message.
FBC Paris is seeking a Discipleship and Music Pastor with passion and competency in making disciples, shepherding people in worship leadership, and equipping others to lead worship and make disciples.
The Community
Nestled in the heart of Kentucky’s famous Bluegrass region, Bourbon County was one of nine counties that made up the Commonwealth when it became a state in 1792. We’re known for Thoroughbred horses grazing in lush green pastures bordered by age-old stone fences and beautiful rolling countryside. In fact, more than 50 horse farms are in the county, including world-famous Claiborne Farm, where Secretariat resided for many years and was laid to rest.
However, we are not just a one-trick pony. Paris offers a variety of historic sites and attractions, including the Cane Ridge Meeting House. From delicious dining and charming shops in downtown Paris to our local museums, Paris has a lot to offer. With a population of 10,135, we have the charm and friendliness of a small town within a 20-minute drive to the City of Lexington.
There are many churches in Paris, but much Gospel need remains. On any given Sunday, only 11% of the population can be found in a church. This reality drives our mission.
