Contemporary Praise & Worship Leader

I. Position Purpose

The Contemporary Praise & Worship Leader guides the congregation into Spirit‑led worship through contemporary music that reflects the core beliefs, mission, and values of the Global Methodist Church. This leader oversees the musical, spiritual, and administrative aspects of contemporary worship services, helping the church fulfill its mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.

 

II. Core Responsibilities

1. Worship Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Senior Pastor to align worship with the sermon series, liturgical season, and ministry goals.
  • Plan, prepare, and lead contemporary worship music for weekly services and special gatherings.
  • Select theologically sound songs consistent with Global Methodist doctrine and the service theme.
  • Lead the congregation in Christ‑centered, engaging, and spiritually formative worship experiences.

 

2. Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer musicians, vocalists, and technical team members.
  • Schedule and lead regular rehearsals, promoting musical excellence and spiritual unity.
  • Provide mentorship and discipleship to team members, encouraging growth in both skill and faith.

3. Service Planning & Administration

  • Prepare worship service orders, song lists, charts, and media for weekly services.
  • Coordinate with production/tech teams to ensure quality audio, lighting, and media integration.
  • Manage worship ministry budgets, equipment needs, and resources.

 

4. Administrative

  • Staff Meeting and Chapel: Actively participates and prepares materials as necessary for weekly staff meetings and chapel times.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Music or Ministry (or equivalent experience).
  • Competency in contemporary worship styles and current worship music trends. 
  • Vocal and instrumental proficiency (guitar or keys preferred). 
  • Experience leading a worship team (volunteer or professional). 
  • Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills. 
  • Familiarity with worship technologies
  • Spiritual Fit: A committed disciple of Jesus Christ whose life reflects the values and doctrine of the church and must demonstrate absolute discretion with confidential financial and personnel data.
