Worship Resident

At Grace Church, we are committed to investing in leadership development. Residents at Grace will receive biblical training, practical experience as team members & leaders, intentional mentoring by our pastoral staff, and practical tools to launch them into their next phase of ministry. Leaders who faithfully complete our Residency Program will be uniquely prepared to provide disciple-making leadership in the Church and in the world. Our residency program is for those actively pursuing a career in vocational ministry and offers a 1-year, renewable, full-time position with a maximum of 2 years.

 

POSITION PURPOSE: To contribute toward the mission of developing all people into fully devoted followers of Christ while developing as a leader and gaining experience for vocational ministry.

 

PERSONAL EXPECTATIONS:

 

  • Consistently teach and model full devotion to Jesus Christ before the church and the community.
  • Be faithful, available, and teachable.
  • Champion the church’s mission, values, vision, & strategy while being a team player.
  • Participate in personal discipleship through the ministry of Grace Church by regularly attending services, participating in a group, and being involved in ministry and mission.
  • Engage regularly in relationships with those outside of faith in Christ with the purpose of pointing them to the hope found in Jesus.
  • Be professional by using discretion with all information received while working in the Grace Church office and ministry.
  • Possess a commitment to pursuing a career in vocational ministry.

 

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Job description will vary depending on the area of ministry focus (Pastoral, Grace Students, Grace Kids, Worship, Next Steps, Outreach). General professional responsibilities include:
    • Performing functions such as (but not limited to): devotions, prayer, sharing the gospel, biblical teaching, funerals, weddings, and hospital visits as assigned by the supervisor.
    • Engaging in disciple-making ministry
    • Using gifts and abilities to contribute to the ministry of Grace Church
    • Becoming a leader who invites, equips, and releases other leaders and teams to leaders.
    • Having a growth mindset and being open to learn new techniques. Receive training from skilled staff and regularly train themselves to develop new techniques.
    • Possessing a strong work ethic along with being self-directed, organized, a self- starter, pro-active and dependable.
    • Developing strong communication, planning, team building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Actively engaging in any and all meetings and assigned roles or all-church events or initiatives as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Assuming other responsibilities as assigned.
  • If applicable, pursue further education during residency as needed.

 

WORSHIP/WEEKEND EXPERIENCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contributing to the planning process for Sunday services 
  • Communicating with volunteers on a weekly basis for the purpose of encouragement, development, and preparation for Sunday services. This may include texts, calls, or in-person meetings when necessary. 
  • Individual preparation and practice for the purpose of leading the team and congregation effectively 
  • Continuing to build and develop the band in Medina. This includes recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and the implementation of new volunteers, as well as the continued development of existing volunteers. 
  • Lead the band/worship team for Sunday services and all special services, such as Communion and Christmas Eve. This includes practice and rehearsal, as well as leading worship in the service.
  • Meeting with key volunteers for the purpose of discipleship and continuing to develop their role on the team. 
  • Arriving early before volunteers on Sundays and key events, ready to connect and lead. 
  • Connecting with people attending the services and always seeking to meet new people. This should be true at any campus where an employee serves. 
  • Assisting the Campus Pastor or Weekend Experience team with various forms of follow-up after Sunday services and key events. 
  • Identifying potential volunteer leadership roles and seeking to invite, equip, and release new leaders into those roles. 
  • Continue to improve in vocals and instrumentation. Always seek to grow as a musician and worship leader. 
  • Carefully and prayerfully craft spoken transitions for worship services. These will be submitted to the supervisor in advance and reviewed for feedback and improvement. 
  • Assist and coach volunteer worship leaders in developing their own verbal transitions. 
  • Being available to fill in wherever needed onstage at either campus 

 

GRACE YOUTH WORSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting the Grace Youth team in the planning process for Youth services 
  • Communicating with student volunteers on a weekly basis for the purpose of encouragement, development, and preparation for services. This may include texts, calls, or in-person meetings when necessary. 
  • Individual preparation and practice for the purpose of leading the team and students effectively 
  • Leading the Youth Band in practice and through the Sunday night services.
  • Assisting in the recruitment of new student musicians and singers.
  • Actively engaging in the development of prospective youth band members. This may include training on instruments, connecting with another adult musician or staff member for coaching, teaching basics, etc. 
  • Creating onboarding and training opportunities for prospective youth band members, as well as existing ones. Strategically held workshops, observation, and first-serve opportunities should all be part of this. 
  • Identifying potential leaders within the band and developing them through coaching and opportunities to lead. 

 

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • This is a full-time, temporary position of 40 hours per week for 1 year (renewable)
