Church Nursery Worker

Job Summary:

To provide dependable, physical, intellectual stimulation, secure, safety, and nurturing care to the children while at our Church, ages 0-6 years in a clean environment. Works under the direction of the Minister of Children & Families.

Primary Duties

• Abides by all Safe Sanctuary policies of the Riverside Church at all times.

• Willing to get trained (if not already) in Red Cross course: Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED

• Engage with children ages 0-6 years in organized activities while staying in nursery, i.e., age-appropriate songs, stories, lessons, crafts, etc.

• Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which includes: feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and prayer. Universal precautions should always be used while time of body fluids.

• Ensures safety of the nursery environment, i.e., cleaning products and medications stored out of reach of children, outlet covers on electrical outlets, etc 

• Report any issues or concerns regarding children and fellow Church Nursery Worker to the Minister of Children & Families.

• Participate in all workshops and trainings as presented by the Minister of Children & Families.

• Church Nursery Workers are expected to work holidays that fall on Sunday and may be asked to work additional hours during busy times, i.e., Holy week.

• Additionally, the Church Nursery Worker will also perform other related duties as assigned.

• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and actively participate in all activities. • Valid ID and reliable transportation.

• Satisfactory drug test and satisfactory background check for criminal and child protective findings.

• Spanish language proficiency a plus, but not required.

• Experience in caring for children between the ages of 0 to 6 with the ability to adapt and interact with a variety of personalities.

Accountability

• Shall be accountable to the Minister of Children & Families. Hours & Compensation : 10:00 am- 1 pm

• Sunday position only

• Local orientation for all Church Nursery Workers will be covered by the Education and Formation Office
