Who We Are
River Valley Alliance Church desires to honor God by being a place where we lift Jesus High as Savior and King. We believe that Jesus is for the World and that everyone needs Him. That He is the way the truth and the Life and that no one comes to the Father except through Him. Our hope is either introduce Jesus to people for the first time, or to build people up in their faith so that they may shine the light of Jesus in everything they do. We believe that God is actively at work in world, and we want to be part of what He’s doing.

We believe anyone who has faith in Jesus is a part of the body of Christ and that God has a plan and purpose for everyone. Because of that we seek to live out of faith in Christ by being gracious towards one another, speaking the truth in love and building each other up. We all play a vital role in living and modeling a life of faith.
About the Role
The Pastor of Student Ministries serves alongside the Senior Pastor and Ministry Team to help shape the spiritual life of students. Being someone who loves Jesus deeply, loves students genuinely, and is excited to be a part of building God’s Kingdom —both inside the church and out in the community.
The Pastor of Student Ministries primarily provides spiritual, relational, and organizational leadership for students in grades 6–12, mainly within River Valley Alliance Church but with thoughts towards the surrounding community. The goal of this ministry is to lead students to the living God through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Equipping them with a solid biblical foundation and providing a place to grow in their faith and have community so that they may live out and share their faith.
This position also includes participating in worship, prayer, and other ministry expressions of the church. Our hope is that this is not done out of a sense of duty – but out of a God given desire to be a member of His body, having a heart to be a part of building His Kingdom on earth here in Watertown. This position will also provide opportunities to practice preaching and to continue to grow in the Lord.
Qualifications
Spiritually – Someone who
- is humble before the Lord
- is confident in the Lord
- loves the Bible and sees it as the ultimate source of truth in this life.
- Has a heart for prayer and dependence on God
- Has Solid knowledge of Scripture and the ability to apply biblical truth to everyday life
- senses God’s calling on your life.
Professionally
- A ministry/biblical college degree
- Licensed with The Christian and Missionary Alliance (or actively pursuing licensure/ordination)
- A learner who is coachable and eager to grow
- Strong teaching and communication skills
- Team player
Personally
- High integrity and a genuine love for people

- Self-motivated and collaborative
- Known as a positive, respected presence in the community
What You’ll Do
- Build authentic relationships with students in grades 6–12
- Teach biblical truth in ways that are engaging, relevant, and age-appropriate
- Create safe, fun, and welcoming environments where students can ask questions and grow in faith
- Equip students to live out and share their faith with friends and classmates
- Lead weekly middle school and high school gatherings
- Plan retreats, camps, mission trips, outreach events, and other experiences that support spiritual growth
- Develop and implement curriculum and teaching resources
- Recruit, train, and encourage volunteer youth leaders
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, encouraging them to honor their God-given role as the primary spiritual leaders of their children
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the overall leadership of the church, fulfilling additional duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
- Work with Senior Pastor and the Governing Board to create and manage the student ministry budget
