Director of Youth Ministry
Responsibility Summary: The Director or Associate Pastor of Youth and Young Adult Ministry is a dual-role position which oversees ministry to youth and their parents (~¾ time), as well overseeing the young adult ministry of GBC (~¼ time). *The person who fills this position should qualify as an Elder or at least progressing towards and desiring to become qualified.

Essential Youth Ministry Responsibilities:
- Oversee the strategic planning and execution of the discipleship of youth and shepherding their parents, including regular programming and special events.
- Effective and regular communication to youth families.
- Recruit, train, and disciple GBC youth volunteers.
- Pastoral care to youth and their families, while resourcing and referring elsewhere as appropriate.
- Intentionally integrating youth into the general church population.
- Offers educational opportunities for parents/guardians regarding youth and youth culture.
- Involved in the Sunday morning activities at Grace Baptist Church.
- Informs the Senior Pastor of evaluations regarding the effectiveness of Youth Ministry activities.
- Effectively manages resources for Youth Ministry activities.
- Effectively reaching unchurched students.
Essential Young Adult Ministry Responsibilities:
- Oversee the strategic planning and execution of the discipleship of college students and other young adults (18-28ish), including regular programming and special events.
- Recruit, train, and disciple an effective young adult leadership team.
- Intentionally integrating college students and young adults into the general church population.
- Effectively reaching unchurched students and young adults.
- Informs the Senior Pastor of evaluations regarding the effectiveness of Young Adult Ministry activities.
Essential Pastoral Responsibilities:
- Preaching at least quarterly in the main worship service with coaching and debrief from the Senior Pastor.
- Supports the other aspects of church strategy in a spirit of unity and common mission.
- Identifies and cultivates individuals who can effectively serve the church in line with desired qualifications of church leaders.
Is a Christian role model to attendees, by actions, words and lifestyle, whether through casual contact or in a formal role–must love Jesus.
- Communicates effectively and courteously with others, including other staff, attendees, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect, and service.
- Other responsibilities and projects, as assigned by the Senior Pastor, in support of the church's mission.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, or bachelor’s degree in progress, preferably with emphasis in Biblical Studies (or similar degree). Master's preferred.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a Christian ministry setting, preferably in a church, with teaching, counseling, and leadership experience with youth.
- Evidence of giftedness in leading youth and young adults in their growth as disciples of Christ and developing authentic relationships with others.
- An evangelical Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the church's guidelines, including signed agreement with the GBC Articles of Faith.
- Agreement with and support of the church's mission, direction, and strategies.
