About Del Aire Baptist Church
Del Aire Baptist Church is a growing and community-focused ministry serving families spiritually and practically since 1945. In partnership with our nonprofit arm, the Del Aire Community Development Center (CDC), we support food security programs, cultural broker initiatives, family services, and wellness programs for the surrounding community.
Position Summary
We are seeking a committed and teachable Pastoral Intern who brings strong spiritual maturity, a willingness to learn, and a heart for community care. This role is ideal for someone exploring a call to ministry, completing ministerial training, or seeking hands-on leadership experience in a local church setting.
The Intern Pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor and ministry leaders to support preaching, teaching, pastoral care, outreach, and church administration. This internship provides real-world ministry experience, mentorship, and development opportunities that prepare emerging leaders for pastoral service. Key Responsibilities
Preaching, Teaching, and Worship Support
• Assist with Sunday and midweek services
• Preach or teach periodically under pastoral supervision
• Support worship planning, scripture reading, liturgy, and altar ministry
Pastoral Care and Member Support
• Participate in visitation for the sick, elderly, and bereaved
• Pray with and support members with compassion and discretion
• Assist with visitor and new member follow-up
Ministry Leadership and Volunteer Support
• Support ministry teams including Youth, Outreach, and Men’s/Women’s Ministry
• Help plan ministry events, programs, and volunteer activities
• Participate in leadership development meetings and trainings
Administration and Operations
• Assist with sermon research and preparation
• Support church communications, scheduling, and basic clerical tasks
• Help with ministry coordination and weekly operational needs
Outreach and Community Engagement
• Participate in community service projects and partnerships
• Build relationships with visitors, community members, and partner organizations
Special Services Support
• Assist with communion, baptism, baby dedications, and other ceremonies
• Support logistics for weddings, funerals, and seasonal services
Qualifications
• A sincere desire to grow in pastoral leadership
• Demonstrated biblical knowledge and sound theological understanding
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to people
• Teachable, humble, and receptive to feedback
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and healthy boundaries
• Consistent reliability and attendance
• Previous ministry experience is helpful but not required
• Commitment to a vital personal faith life and spiritual disciplines
• Demonstrated integrity, discernment, and other-centered leadership
• Valid driver’s license
Training and Mentorship
The Intern Pastor will receive regular coaching and training in:
• Sermon development and preaching
• Biblical teaching and lesson planning
• Pastoral ethics, communication, and leadership
• Church administration and ministry operations
• Pastoral care and spiritual counseling fundamentals
• Event planning and ministry organization
