Assistant Director of Children's Ministry

Job Title: Assistant Director of Children’s Ministry and Parent’s Morning Out (Full-time)

Position Overview: First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to fill the role of Assistant Director of Children’s Ministry and Parent’s Morning Out. FPC currently offers a vibrant children’s ministry program and a weekly Parent’s Morning Out experience. We actively serve and provide ministry to over 200 children and their families through weekly Sunday School opportunities and large-scale programing. This position combines hands-on leadership, program coordination, and relational ministry to ensure children experience God’s love in meaningful and age-appropriate ways. The incumbent will work closely with the Director to create and implement engaging programs, foster a supportive community, and provided guidance to children on their Christian faith journey at FPC. 

Key Responsibilities:

In cooperation with and under the supervision of the Director of Children’s Ministry & PMO, the candidate filling this role will be expected to: 

  • Help plan, implement, and execute programs: 
    • Sunday School for children 0 through Kindergarten, Assist in organizing and providing weekly curriculum to Sunday school volunteers.
    • Assist leading Smiles and Godly Play on Sunday Mornings.
    • Special events, social activities and service opportunities. 
      • Vacation Bible School
      • Christmas Pageant
      • Intergenerational Advent Festival
      • Christmas Parade
      • Easter Egg Hunt
      • Trunk or Treat
      • All Church Retreat
    • Parent’s Morning Out Program
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers to serve effectively and joyfully in CM.
  • Schedule Sunday paid workers that maintain Nursery, Toddler room and 2’s/3’s classroom. 
  • Help maintain classrooms and program spaces that are safe, organized, and inviting.
  • Communications, including but not limited to:
    • Managing CM’s Mailchimp weekly newsletter
    • Effectively manage CM and PMO online registrations, calendars and bulletin announcements.
  • Maintain and update PMO & CM’s family database and class rosters.
  • Develop and maintain cradle care information. 
  • Assist in the daily coordination and operation of the PMO program.
  • Support PMO teachers and caregivers. 
  • Assist with scheduling, staff communication, and classroom coverage as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and childcare policies.
  • Build strong, caring relationships with children and their families, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Administrative Support (25% of this position)
    • Youth Ministry (5 Hours)
    • All Church Retreat (5 Hours)
  • Provide leadership in the absence of the director. 
  • Other duties as negotiated with/assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • A strong and growing faith in Jesus Christ. 
  • Experience working with young children in a church setting, childcare, or preschool.
  • A heart for children and a passion for helping them grow in faith.
  • Strong organizational, communication, administrative, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and families.
  • Ability to lead with kindness, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to meet physical demands required by the role.
  • Proficiency in Canva preferred. 
  • Ability to assist and coordinate and help manage large events.
