Camp Pastor Seasonal

Camp Pastor

Seasonal | Summer Leadership Team
Guiding, Shepherding, and Developing the Heart of Our Staff

Overview

Camp Sonshine is a ministry dedicated to creating fun memories where children and youth experience God’s love — and our staff are central to making that mission a reality. The Camp Pastor serves as both shepherd and mentor to our summer staff team, focusing on their spiritual growth, emotional well-being, and professional development throughout the season.

This is a unique pastoral role that combines staff care, behavior management, and discipleship. The Camp Pastor helps ensure that our staff not only lead campers with excellence but also personally thrive in their faith, character, and calling.

Why This Role Matters?

The impact of Camp Sonshine flows through our staff. When our team is cared for spiritually and supported through challenges, they can pour more fully into the lives of campers. The Camp Pastor provides the consistent guidance, accountability, and encouragement that strengthen staff culture and build lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Staff Shepherding & Check-ins: Conduct regular one-on-one or small group check-ins with staff members to encourage, support, and pray with them. Be a trusted, approachable presence for staff in moments of need.
  • Spiritual Development: Lead devotionals, Bible studies, or small group sessions to nurture staff faith. Provide spiritual guidance, encouragement, and resources for staff navigating challenges. Partner with the leadership team to cultivate a spiritually healthy camp culture.
  • Behavior & Character Development: Address staff behavioral issues with wisdom, grace, and firmness. Coach staff through undesired behavior or conflict, turning challenges into growth opportunities. Document and communicate staff concerns with leadership as needed.
  • Leadership Team Collaboration: Serve as a key member of the summer leadership team, supporting camp-wide initiatives and goals. Participate in leadership meetings, bringing a pastoral perspective to decision-making. Assist with evening programs, retreats, and staff-wide spiritual development activities.
