Graduate Student - Indonesia

Indonesia is home to the world’s largest Muslim population and as many as 233 unreached people groups. It is also home to a vast array of natural resources and one of the world’s fastest growing economies. REI has been working in Indonesia since 1997 with an eye towards helping the poor and developing underutilized resources.

Come help us build our REI team and make a practical contribution to holistic development in Indonesia while earning a master’s degree at one of the top universities in the country – Brawijaya University. Multiple current team members have pursued graduate degrees at this university, focusing on topics such as neglected and underutilized crops, utilization of agro-industrial waste, biogas production, biochar and entrepreneurial management. In your graduate research you will have the opportunity to partner with various local institutions, including our own Foundation for Holistic Development and Training. Live out and share your faith among students and faculty from unreached peoples across Indonesia.

You’ll be mentored in disciplemaking in a predominantly Muslim context, with a focus on holism, righteousness and justice applied in an emerging nation. Your classmates will be future leaders in your field, and your participation on campus provides opportunities for life-on-life discipleship with them. Your thesis research creates an opportunity to learn to steward your professional development for holistic kingdom impact.

This role provides opportunity for international quality academic training in your field, integrated with biblical and cross-cultural mentoring for a life of holistic, Kingdom-building service among the unreached. You’ll be guided in your personal and spiritual contribution, as well as your professional development, growing in your knowledge and character.
