SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
This role will lead out the Cru brand through the written word. Writers use expertise to connect a wide range of audiences to Cru through articles, devotionals and journalistic stories, in order to make the biggest impact on the four million+ users on our digital platforms. Specific tasks include but are not limited to research, pitching story and article ideas, writing and editing articles and contributing to planning meetings.

NOTE: This is a missionary support raising role meaning that Cru pays you from the missionary support you raise. We train and coach you well in this process. The application is open until March 1, 2026 and decisions are made thereafter. We also host a preview weekend for this role in Orlando in early February 2026.
FOR THIS POSITION:
- Create, edit, and curate content that will bring awareness to the organization, create value for our audiences and drive ministry engagement actions on Cru’s digital media.
- Apply a consistent tone and voice throughout Cru’s ecosystem that complements Cru’s brand.
- Propose story and article ideas to the Editorial Council
- Build trusted relationships with ministry stakeholders and field staff members to initiate and complete story assignments
- Perform online and on-the-ground research for content; utilize provided yearly U.S. content narrative themes and tie proposed ideas to this framework.
- Produce and customize content for assigned Cru platforms and products. This may include stories, articles, email campaigns, devotional content, and other forms of written communication.
- Utilize research findings and data provided by the Marketing and Experiences teams to inform ideation, content creation, and content revision.
- Collaborate with the Editorial Strategy team to edit content for assigned Cru platform as needed.
OTHER FUNCTIONS (Non-essential)
- Oversee the organization of newsletter plans and content.
- Perform related duties or special projects as assigned
- Demonstrate and model personal spiritual discipline and assist in development of an environment on the team where individual team members grow in their own Christian walks.
- Personal development - engage in the Staff Development process including creating and implementing a Personal Development Plan (PDP) targeting areas of growth.

- Travel as needed within the United States and internationally for select story coverage.
- Use excellent judgment in writing content that fits the Cru organization and/or brand.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, English or similar required. Work experience of 3-5 years producing and editing written content on behalf of a corporate brand. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.
