Worship Ministries Director

Northlawn United Methodist Church, Grand Rapids, MI

Part-Time (Average 10 hours per week)

Hourly Pay: $18/hr

A compassionate, inclusive, intergenerational community of United Methodists in Grand Rapids, Michigan are looking for an energetic, driven, passionate, and creative leader to support, implement, and expand the worship program of this growing church. This is a 10 hours paid per week position, including Sunday worship, Thursday evening rehearsal, planning, and two monthly weeknight team meetings. The Worship Ministries Director will be responsible for leading and overseeing worship at Northlawn United Methodist Church (UMC), designing and implementing the weekly worship services in conjunction with the Pastor, as well as developing and leading the music and tech teams. This position is part-time and requires 10 hours per week, including Sundays and Thursday evenings for rehearsals.

Responsibilities

● Lead congregation as worship leader in conjunction with worship team and Pastor

● Lead and work with the Worship and Tech teams as well as the Pastor to plan, create, and implement weekly worship services.

● Choose musical selections and hymns to match scripture, theme, congregation preferences, and music team abilities while providing variety and interest.

● Lead weekly worship rehearsal with vocalists, musicians, and tech team.

● Provide regular, specific, and timely feedback to audio-tech volunteers, live-stream team, and projection screen volunteers to ensure consistency and quality.

● Create visual presentations - graphics, lyrics, and information slides for use during the service.

Professional Qualifications

● Able to read and lead music

● Proficient on an instrument (piano or guitar preferred; but not required).

● Good planning, organizational, and time management skills

● Capable to teach, train, and lead Worship Team volunteers; experience leading worship including other musicians and vocalists is preferred.

● Ability to blend familiar and favorite elements while introducing the congregation to new music and methods of worship.

● Ability to learn new technology. Experience with ProPresenter7, Planning Center Online and PowerPoint preferred.

● Ability to visualize aesthetics for both in-person and live-stream worship (i.e. camera frame, decor, lighting, etc.)
